705361 2008-09-17 10:30:00 Hi. Had one just like that explode a few weeks back. It was just a normal desk-lamp, used to light up the work area where my PC is. Gave me one heck of a fright. Glass everywhere and bloody hot. The explosion was so violent small pieces of glass embedded in my workstation! I ended up looking on the interweb to see if this was a common occurrence and the answer is, apparently, yes. I read enough to put me off ever buying another one. Oh, and the other thing that happened just after we bought it - my daughter (unnoticed by the adults in the family) moved it close to the front plate of the PC. It melted it on one side. That should have been a warning... k8smum (6062)

At least you won't have those problems with an LED bulb.
