The rack just has 2 u bolts so you might only have to push them back through get some more nuts, plain, and spring washers or stiff nuts. The worse case is the structure around the holes has pulled out. If that is the case the donk and cog box will have to come out to repair area around u bolt holes. If you take the engine and box out yourself which is very easy especialy if you have a strong branch on a tree. You only have to tow the car around to panel beater to patch structure around $75 dollars. Be carefull towing because brake booster vacuum wont work drive slow and use handbrake. Next time you buy a car buy a Ford. keep away from the General. Thanks prefect for the good advice, much appreciated! :) Ill definitely check out Midas they seem to have a very good reputation and Ive heard a lot of good stories about them, although I haven't been there myself personally. |

What does it say on the WOF sheet? I agree if it was dangerous they would pink sticker it, hopefully the rack is just loose. Midas New Lynn do all garage type work minor and major and dont rip people off. Cant speak of other Midas dont know and dont care, I live near New Lynn. |

| 704993 | 2008-09-14 07:49:00 | Good grief! That's a Chevy Lumina.....My Google won't go to Australia.... heheheheh... I've never had a Lumina do something like that either......maybe they use wombats to assemble them there. Wombats have a very strong union and they cannot be fired for poor work quality. If you want to take the engine out...it goes out through the bottom with the transmission and lower suspension parts. It's on a sub frame called a "K-Member" and you can have unlimited access to the rack-and-pinion steering that way. Not too sure where the "donk and cog box" is though.... Youse guys still kill me with youse witty names for things. "Donk" = "Donkey" (does all the work) = motor "Cog Box" = gearbox = transmission |
