707608 2008-09-25 02:26:00 Further to the thread about rejigging the ads in this site, which is looking more and more to be a 'no-goer' how do I block 'Flash' ads, such as the HP ad and boxes like the Job Universe, using Adblock. I have managed to get rid of all others so far. Richard (739)
707609 2008-09-25 02:35:00 Flashblock (addons.mozilla.org) is another extension which does it.

Also with Stylish (addons.mozilla.org) you can use Erayd's script (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) to block all ad's on this forum.

707610 2008-09-25 02:49:00 I find Adblock Plus is better than plain old Adblock. It also adds a tab to Flash videos that let you block it. :) pcuser42 (130)
707611 2008-09-25 05:07:00 OK. Installed Flashblock which works to a point. Still left with the white space which the ad occupied, and an 'f' in a circle. Doesn't really achieve a lot. Can someone confirm that Stylish is bulletproof and easy to use for an old idiot like me, in which case I will try it out tomorrow. :) Richard (739)
707612 2008-09-25 05:58:00 Once Stylish is installed simply right click the icon for it (generally in the bottom right corner of the window), select "Write Style" for pressf1.pcworld.co.nz (you will need to be at a PressF1 page for that to appear). Then simply copy Erayd's code and paste between the braces. stormdragon (6013)
707613 2008-09-25 06:03:00 Yes - stylish is pretty easy -just download it and when it's installed and running you'll see a "page with a tick" icon in the bottom right of FF.

Right click and select "Manage Styles" - then left click on the "Write" icon in the top left.

Now copy and paste the following code in it (thanks Erayd), then put something in the "Description" to call it (PF1 or something) and press "save"

to turn it on or off, just right click on the page with a tick" icon and select the name you called it and left click it.

If there is a tick beside it, then it's active.
