707396 2008-09-24 00:36:00 Very strange, but no big loss. They were never that great. Hopefully Sony will sponsor the ABs now! :D wratterus (105)
707397 2008-09-24 01:03:00 Yep no loss. The quality has dropped over the past few years and Philips always seem to come at the bottom of the Consumer reliability surveys.. paulw (1826)
707398 2008-09-24 01:12:00 Not that I care about this product especially but:

"New Zealand was judged too small a market to play in under the new regime. So was Australia. Campbell says she’s unaware of any other countries effected by Kleisterlee’s push."

Thats what happened with Legend (one of my suppliers) they abandoned NZ as it was too small.

707399 2008-09-25 08:34:00 I suspect Phillips found out that not only were they unable to fool all the people all the time, they couldn't fool any of the people this time.

Once they made good electronics, but that was a long while ago.

707400 2008-09-25 08:43:00 There latest TV's were actually pretty good. pine-o-cleen (2955)
707401 2008-09-26 04:01:00 Now if only we can convince Phillips that the US is too small of a market and have them pull out of here too.

Gack! Junk that doesn't even come to cheap Chinese tvs.

707402 2008-09-26 04:11:00 we mostly get the budget end of philips which is Chinese made i think. quality is not good.
however their top end i believe is still dutch made and is of good quality. they are not bad at all but market for such tv's is very small and with their brand being regarded as a cheap brand the top end would be a very hard sell for a tiny market.

Philips pulled out of the North American market in April.

707404 2008-09-26 05:13:00 From anecdotal evidence, Philips TVs are pretty unreliable. utopian201 (6245)
