2009-11-02 02:08:00 | I have win 7 64bit and 4GB of ram. I don't have a page file. I don't want a page file. I do however want windows 7 to stop bugging me when i only have 800MB memory free. its annoying, bad design, etc.

2009-11-02 04:56:00 | 4GB is not enough to operate without a page file anyway is it? I would have thought 8GB would be the minimum. You could operate without a page file but it would slow the machine down.

2009-11-02 04:58:00 | the less RAM a system has, the larger the pagefile is likely to be. If enough RAM is present there may be no pagefile. | GameJunkie (72) | |
2009-11-02 08:53:00 | Yeah basically it's not going to hurt it leaving it there. There's debate about if you even gain much (if any) performance by putting it on a RAM-disk, so don't even bother. If you have enough RAM, it won't be actively using it, so just do the right thing and "Let Windows manage my Pagefile" ;) | Chilling_Silence (9) | |

Linux does not have a page file and you can always use MSdos which had no pagefile either. |
