825972 2009-11-01 00:30:00 On my laptop keyboad one side of the spacebar doesn't really stick its just a wee bit harder than the other side of the spacebar. So I have to put more pressure to push down one side than the other.

But if I give the key a hard smack it makes it better for about 5-10min.

I have had a look under the key (by lifting the side up gently and it doesnt seem like there is anything under there. So I think it might be the hinge piece that is broken. (I am not sure though so I anyone is able to correct me that would be good!)

Is there a way to fix this without breaking the keyboard?

825974 2009-11-01 21:38:00 Yeah pop it off (gently) and have a look. Sometimes it's fixable, sometimes not. You are unlikely to make it worse. Out of interest, what brand of notebook is it?

That might be of some use.

825975 2009-11-02 05:55:00 Laptop is HP dv6 1204ax. I popped it off last night and gave it a quick clean with some rubbing alcohol and gave it a good blow.

It seems to be working now but if it happens again and is worse would it pay to get it fixed under warrranty or CGA?
