Just means that you take everything with a grain of salt until you feel sure that it's codswallop. Isn't that the "scientific way" where everything is a theory able to be disregarded? It was once, i'm not so sure now.....
Anything with extreme or emotive views needs more salt, and although i have no belief that we're all going to die because of a particle collision, this is such an issue.
