826720 2009-11-03 00:30:00 going to see if i can get it to boot off vista dvd. and if not then i hope it is an ide laptop drive nedkelly (9059)
826721 2009-11-03 00:34:00 Vista is better than XP. If the hdd is sata, you dont have to slipstream / add sata drivers. It'll know its sata and find the hdd (if you boot from the dvd that is) Speedy Gonzales (78)
826722 2009-11-03 00:41:00 ok might just throw the specs of the laptop out here.
Hp DV6000 Entertainment Laptop
2.0 Ghz Dual Core 2
2.5 Gb ram
160gb Hard drive
Vista 32bit.
The reason I am hopeful it is ide is because I have some 2.5" hard drive cases but no Sata cases 2.5" or 3.5"

826723 2009-11-03 00:41:00 hey it booted from the dvd. Trying repair your computer option to see what happens nedkelly (9059)
826724 2009-11-03 00:53:00 hey what ever that repair your computer did it worked i am back at the desktop nedkelly (9059)
826725 2009-11-03 00:58:00 It probably overwrote the infected files, with clean files off the DVD. Was the wireless encrypted, when it was on?? If it wasnt, I would use encryption, if youre going to use it. Or disable it Speedy Gonzales (78)
826726 2009-11-03 01:02:00 the wireless is WPA encryption. And has always been encrypted. What kind of computer technician would I be if I left my own wireless open to the world? nedkelly (9059)
826727 2009-11-03 01:03:00 Well good question, but you'll be surprised :p Speedy Gonzales (78)
826728 2009-11-03 01:09:00 yeah some 'computer technicians' are horrible at following their own advice they give people nedkelly (9059)
