707881 2008-09-30 02:27:00 Windows 7 sounds promising....but so did Vista.

Kind of IMO.

Vista SP1 delivered. RTM Vista was still in beta really.

I'm happily using Vista Home Premium SP1 here. couldn't be happier.

This suits me just fine:

"Microsoft has decided that Windows 7 won't include built-in programs for e-mail, photo editing, and movie making, as was done with Windows Vista"

The more they take out, the better I'll like it.

Well, I've never really liked Movie Maker although it's nice to have 'just in case'

When you say photo editing, does that mean they will remove MSPaint? I hope not. Probably one of the best applications that came from Microsoft. But how about let's just put the colour toolbar back to where it's always been (and there was absolutely no point in changing it whatsoever) and then leave it alone. 'nuff said.

As for Windows Mail, I've never used it (only opened it once to have a look)
I still use OE6 on XP and it works 99% perfectly for me. Outlook has too much useless rubbish I don't need or want.

707884 2008-09-30 11:36:00 Yeah and they could do a marketing campaign on tv, they could get Mick Jagger to sing a song. How about "Wake Me Up."

Thanks so much for that video.

I love the Weird Al song, so to see this video (and d/l it) was great. Some people are so clever !

Windows 7 = Vista with new logo on bootup and new eye candy. The underlying bloat will be the same..

707887 2008-09-30 19:08:00 Windows 7 also = alpha. The GUI is one of the last things Microsoft usually change. (Consider early Vista - sorry, Longhorn - betas. Also XP betas were recoloured versions of Windows 2000 basically.) pcuser42 (130)

Yes, but at a cost to usability...
