Do you have Microsoft security essentials installed as when it scans on older comps it can use upto 90% of the CPU. FOuld out the process is the same as an old Win defender process.

I had a slow comp on my old P4 used as a server googled the process and it was the Micro SE one

PF Usage 0.98GB. (Is this from a 1GB ram stick?)

826054 2009-11-01 04:11:00 Nvidia firewall / its called Forceware network access manager is installed. Thats probably one reason. Uninstall it. It will be conflicting with Sygate

Tick these then tick fix checked

Close browsers

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Google Quick Search Box] "C:\Program Files\Google\Quick Search Box\GoogleQuickSearchBox.exe" /autorun

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe"

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [swg] "C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\GoogleToolbarNo tifier.exe"

Press alt-ctrl-del to bring up task manager. Or go to start/run, type taskmgr

I hesitate to say YES. I am still getting...This program has failed to respond" often. Changing a sreen can hang fo a few seconds to a minute or more.

As the advert says....Swear for 30 seconds & just walk away!!!! PJ
