2008-10-02 20:03:00 | I've asked the good people at Samsung NZ to advise me on drivers to connect my mobile with the USB cable to my PC. They had this to say : The usb cable is used to connect as a modem only when you plug it in it will install all needed drivers for this function. Hay? What are they saying - that the drivers/whatever will be installed on it's own? Anyone got any idea? sarel

2008-10-02 20:18:00 | Windows loads its own drivers when the phone is plugged in to allow it to show up as a USB drive to download photos and videos from the phone. If you want to synchronise your phone contacts with your address book or use other mobile phone to PC utilities you would need to install additional drivers downloaded from a supplied CD disc or the internet.

2008-10-03 05:33:00 | I did the connecting to the PC on XP (Samsung SPH-M300). Got the prompt to install a driver. Nothing on XP. Searched/Googled and got a Samsung download : "Samsung CDMA Technologies", that installs the driver on your PC. Ran it. Installed. Then ...... nothing. In the System\Devices folder the phone (as a modem) is showing. On my phone, on the desktop it says USB connected. I can not see the phone anywhere else nor can I access anything on it. Anything I should do more. Nothing under Tools on the phone to connect. sarel

2008-10-03 06:32:00 | This phone is rather unlike the Nokia phones I have used . From a quick search it appears that all the USB cable will do is the following: Connect your Samsung phone to your computer allowing your Samsung phone to become an external modem . Use your phone to dial up to the internet for online access, email etc . The Samsung USB charging data cable also allows you to charge your phone through the USB port on your computer . If you are wanting to upload photos then it appears that you need additional drivers to do this but no sites I have seen so far have been able to point out where to find them . Can't offer any more help than that, sorry .

2008-10-03 16:25:00 | I couldnt find anything as well which I found very strange considering the samsung w531 which I used to own was so simple to connect, and your phone is a newer model. Just a thought, if it is only photo's you are trying to upload then just upload them to photo gallery then sign in via computer and download them for free. Ringtones are trickier but I have used an uploader via www.sprintuser.com but you pay for data transfer so the cost of doing it makes it prohibitive. The results were poor but that was probably due to my inexperience in creating the ringtone.
