708715 2008-09-29 21:30:00 HI Guys

I'm looking for this thingy that heats up on the tip which allows you to write on wood.

If I remember correctly the tip glows red and it leaves burn mark on wood.

Does anyone here know what I'm taking about ? :nerd:

What are they called? Where can I buy them?

708717 2008-09-29 21:47:00 Could be wrong, but I think its simply called a "Wood burning Tool". Places like here (www.carvingpatterns.com) have a few instructions/ patterns.

As for where to purchase  Maybe craft shops, hobby shops.

708719 2008-09-29 22:07:00 Yep, I agree with wratterus. We used them at primary school to do pokerwork. So I guess they are called a pokerwork tool or something like that. :) Richard (739)

708723 2008-09-29 23:01:00 I recall them being called poker machines. (Probably because you used the new-fangled electricery stuff to do the job formerly done by doodling with a red-hot poker on firewood.)

These people (www.deltaed.co.nz) list them, but the price seems a bit low (FF3) ;)
