| 708688 | 2008-09-29 20:48:00 | I have an incredible number of vinyl records that I would like to download to a hard drive or burn to cd - but I don't have a turntable. Does any of a turntable, reasonably priced, that I cannot through the USB port of the PC without having to buy a stereo? Many thanks |

Do you mean, "Does anyone know of a turntable, reasonably priced, that I connect through the USB port of the PC without having to buy a stereo"? Took me some thinking to understand that... Unfortunately, from me, the answer's no. Although I could do with one of those myself. |

Sony (and I'm sure most of the other major manufacturers) make good quality pre-amped turn tables, which you can easily connect up to either a stereo or direct to the line in on your PC. Dick Smith sell them. There's a brand, I think it was LAB, DSE have the needles very cheap, which is good, Sonys are costly to replace. You can use a program like Audacity to record. I've done this, work a treat. www.trademe.co.nz I know DSE sells that one, but I couldn't find it on their website. It's probably cheaper too. |

| 708692 | 2008-09-29 21:17:00 | I bought a SoundLAB turntable from the UK a couple of months ago (had to get a mate to bring it out though as they wouldn't ship outside the UK) for around $220. It is a very good piece of kit and works a treat. Uses Audacity to record/edit - plug and play!! | johcar (6283) | ||

| 708696 | 2008-09-30 00:15:00 | Something like this? (www.thinkgeek.com) Only US$99. Be under $225 after currency conversion and shipping (Hopefully). Comes with Audacity, and connects via USB. Also supports High-speed dubbing, and 33.3, 45 and 78 RPM. Has RCA outputs too, so you can attach it to your stereo as well. | ubergeek85 (131) | ||
