708548 2008-09-29 19:10:00 I can put you in touch with a applicator mate of mine if you're in Auckland....Thanks but I am not in Auckland. No problems finding an applicator just want some unbiased opinion of how successful it is. Pato (2463)
708549 2008-09-29 19:20:00 Success is proportional to the skill of the applicator... johcar (6283)
708550 2008-09-30 02:58:00 Success is proportional to the skill of the applicator...Yes. I suspected as much. I am not sure how it is installed but it is always good to hear from people who have first hand knowledge of these things> Pato (2463)

We had some windows professionally frosted early last year. They basically applied some sort of frosted film over the existing windows, and it has worked very well. It doesn't seem to be showing any signs of aging or deterioration.

708553 2008-09-30 06:53:00 We had some UV tinting film applied to our north facing windows about 15 years ago still in reasonable to good condition apart from a few scratches. No sign of it lifting. You cant use ammonia based window cleaners on it though.
Clean with a soft danp cloth.

Clean with a soft danp cloth.Great. That is the sort of info' I was after and my main concern was that it would lift or crinkle. Fifteen years is good as I think the guarantee is only 5 years. When you say in reasonable to good condition what is the noticeably deterioration. Did you notice that it cut down the room light much.?

708555 2008-09-30 23:30:00 Remember Pato, if these are sun facing windows you will get no solar gain (heat from the sum)

House next door has tinted glass, and it's very cold. They need the fire going a lot. Don't underestimate sunlight as heating, at 1 kW per sq metre.

Unless the room is too hot now....
