| 708121 | 2008-09-27 02:53:00 | Can anyone tell me how much I can bring back into the country-duty free? I thought it was $400 but someone told me it is now $700? Also is it true that they only collect when the duty is $50 or more? i.e. that would mean that if only GST is charged then the amount over the duty free allowance would have to be more than (approx) $400 for duty to be charged - Is this right or I have I got it totally wrong? cheers Tim |

The last time I travelled I had more trouble getting out, than getting back in (was stopped and questioned at passport control, then stopped for a patdown using a metal detector; while coming back in was a breeze). |
