827173 2009-11-04 21:05:00 Got my new WD 1TB green HDD yesterday afternoon and notice that the Jumper setting configuration is a littel different from Seagates'.

Here are the options:

1 & 2 : Spread Spectrum Clocking -- what is this?

3 & 4 : Power-Up in Standby -- No idea what is this for, too.

5 & 6 : 1.5 GB -- This is obvious, limiting to SATA1 - at least I know something, ha ha

Factory Default is NO jumpers.

Also, when I was loading Win 7, I partitioned my C: to 200 GB and Win7 was setting up, it prompted that for Windows to operate properly, it created a 100 MB partition reserved for system files. Those are not the exact wordings but it's something to that effect! I don't remember there was such a prompt when setting up the Win 7 RC.

Have I done something wrong?

827174 2009-11-04 21:09:00 Its probably for this (technet.microsoft.com)

Protect data on computers and devices. The Windows 7 partition drive size (required for BitLocker™ and the Windows Recovery Environment) has been reduced from 200 MB to 100 MB.

827175 2009-11-04 22:14:00 Windows 7 will automatically create that partition if it needs to. You didn't do anything wrong.

As for the jumpers, don't worry about them either, just leave them as they are (Unless you actually are interested in what they do)
