708837 2008-10-07 20:29:00 Checked my plan yesterday (7/10) and it says I now have a 20GB cap (Adventure Plan). Rebooted my modem a couple of times, but it is still connecting at 7616kbps down and 160kbps up. Is the upstream speed increase scheduled for a later date? Miami Steve (2128)
708838 2008-10-07 20:37:00 Adventure, that is not max upstream, Pro is max\max SolMiester (139)
708839 2008-10-07 20:51:00 Will check later today (I forgot about this).

Why do you say that?? It very definitely is uncapped speed down AND up ( . telecom . co . nz/broadband/select/1,10627,205836-204473,00 . html?action=/plan&detail=8" target="_blank">www . telecom . co . nz)

708841 2008-10-07 21:45:00 Someone asked about other ISPs adopting new price points to match Telecom. It's the other way round I think.
Vodafone Ultimate is 20GB max-max plus a home phone line for $90. Another $30 gives you another 20GB of traffic so that's $120 for 40GB.

Telecom's new Pro plan gives you 40GB for $79.95 but you buy a phone line on top of that for another $45 (depends where you are) making it more expensive still.

Telecom's catching up with the rest of the market, not the other way round.

Cheers

There's probably some sort of regulation that causes this.

BTW Paul it is interesting that you choose an xtra thread to comment on yet many a vodafone threat went by without any input.

708844 2008-10-08 03:14:00 Now that the new plans are out what are peoples experiences with them. I was thinking of changing from xnet river plan to telecoms adventure plan because xnet's slow speeds have become very annoying lately. I won't be able to get adsl2+ until 2011 where i live, so is it worth changing ?

At the moment i get speeds of around 1000-2000 kbps download and 128 kbps upload and usually download around 20 GB a month.

That's a shame. Well, I've been on Telecom's "Pro" plan since March ($79.95 / 15GB per month) and for the first three or so months I was getting these speeds:

6500Kbps download Approx
560Kbps upload aprox at a rough estimate based on speed tests.

Then during August and early September my speeds rised a fair bit:

7,000's in Kbps download (Approx)
650Kbps Upload (Approx)

And now for about a month I'm getting (for some strange reason), these speeds:

12,564Kbps Download (Which is excellent, dominating TClear's fastest down speed - but don't get too excited, as it may be my location causing it, who knows)
678Kbps Upload (Still gay, but hey, it is ADSL2 +)

I'm pleased, and since the 25 added GB the speeds have been the same, nothing more.

By the way the best place to test your internet is NOT speedtest.net, but either vodafone or Slingshot.

708846 2008-10-08 04:18:00 I have been on Pro for over a year and are getting the best speeds now.....
Download Speed: 3634 kbps (454.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 742 kbps (92.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 26 ms

The latest adsl2+ upgrade plan for my area, that I saw was March 2009
