709354 2008-10-04 02:48:00 Ipod is good in looks only and are crap in terms of sound quality

I totally disagree with that statement, I have an ipod and have also tried a variety of other brands and I think ipod rates near the top.

709355 2008-10-04 03:35:00 Did you purchase from that site? Are they reputable? Their price for that one is around $100 less than Noel Leeming, etc.

Yes, I've purchased 3 Zens (for myself and others) from them in the last year, and found them fast, efficient and really good to deal with. Highly recommend them!

709358 2008-10-04 21:20:00 I have a Sony but various members of the family have iPods, iTouches etc. Sony sounds better to me, the battery life is longer and it has an FM radio built in. And you can drag and drop - iTunes would drive me nuts. Twelvevolts (5457)
709359 2008-10-04 22:01:00 Not really interested in watching videos, hence the interest in cheaper players.

What I would like is reasonably good sound, a screen to see what is playing and for easy menu navigation and view lyrics on, if possible and good battery life. A radio would be good too.

I was in the same boat when I was looking for a new mp3 player & found that the good brands don't make decent MP3 players that are only mp3 players these days.

I ended up buying an ipod nano because they sound good, are supported by winamp (my preferred music player) & my car head unit has an ipod dock. I was considering a creative player, but in the end the ipod dock on my head unit tipped the balance.

If you do a lot of biking or running, the ipods are even better because it is easy to find accessories for them. My arm strap makes it so much more convenient to listen to music while I'm on my bike or out on a run.

and thats what it did.Itunes drove my friend nuts. She got so frustrated she sold it on trademe.Didn't lose much. Now shes happy again

You should've bought sony mp3 players 3 years ago where they force you to use SonicStage. It drove me mad.I couldn't import one mp3 song in.They made a small program that let you drag and drop but I could only fit half of the songs I had into the player and the files weren't even mp3 format.

I am happy that sony got rid of their mp3 players.

709361 2008-10-05 02:49:00 I just bought a Zen X-Fi yesterday after losing my iPod touch a few weeks ago and almost buying a regular Zen but an extra $50 seemed a good idea for a newer release. I hadn't been to the forums for about a week and see there's a bit of discussion around this now, heh.

I sorta miss the touch and am not really into the Zen but I'll give it a few more days. Plus it's a bit more conducive to exercise compared to the iPod.

709362 2008-10-05 19:44:00 One last question - has anyone tried viewing lyrics on their Creative Zen or iPod whilst listening to music?

It appears that you need a third-party program in order to do this so I would like to know which is a good one to choose and how effective it is.
