707995 2008-09-26 23:45:00 People who live under dictatorships would die for the right to vote. Would you die to preserve a right not to vote?

If you don't exercise your right to vote, you automatically give up any right to complain about the outcome. You will, however, be a fully certified member of the cop-out generation and be entitled to wander about aimlessly for the rest of your life saying "don't blame me, I didn't vote for anybody".

Cheers

Bollocks! How can you cast an honest vote when there isn't ANY political party or politician that you can trust or believe in any more! - thats democracy.

Democracy is about having the choice to have a say - and you can choose NOT to cast a vote. The point is, you actually have the option to cast one if you want, and help shape the way this country is governed - regardless of how honest or dishonest the candidates are.

708000 2008-09-27 07:42:00 Democracy is a scam.

There's a saying in Taoist literature [LAO TZU (www.1000ventures.com)]

Those who know don't speak, those who speak don't know

This works equally well for me in the matter of voting which I gave up participating in after the U.K. general election in 1964 when Harold Wilson who I naively trusted would make a difference, formed a Labour government.

Since then my philosophy of politicians and elections has been

Those who know don't vote, those who vote don't know

708001 2008-09-27 09:20:00 Its very interesting when you go and vote (I never have voted in any other country). You wonder if the scrutineers could take one look at you and say "he can't vote, he looks like a ...."

I will vote... for Metla (maybe not :) )
