708698 2008-09-30 00:22:00 The Ion branded turntable didn't rate highly in the reviews I read...

Really? That's not like ThinkGeek to sell a bad product.

708699 2008-09-30 01:24:00 Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad product, I'm just saying that the user reviews I read steered me away from it. I think the SoundLAB turntable is built from the same chassis, it's more along the finishing that there were issues... johcar (6283)
708700 2008-09-30 08:13:00 Jaycar have a turntable with analogue and streaming USB outputs for $107 incl gst (Cat GE-4059). Although not in their catalog they also have a much fancier model for around $3-400. They are worth checking out.

If your older record are a bit scratched, wash them with warm soapy water, dry thoroughly, spray with record cleaner then play them while wet. It reduces surface noise and clicks etc and can produce remarkable results from tired vinyl.

SoundForge is good too. As the reviewer said, a little complex, but once you've figured it out... :punk
