2009-11-04 03:45:00 | Sounds like the only way you're going to fix it, is remove the hdd and put it in a desktop or connect it to a laptop, then scan it | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2009-11-04 03:48:00 | That will work, you'd need an IDE/SATA to USB adapter or an external HDD enclosure. It's pretty straight forward. You've misunderstood what I meant about the admin account, just cause your account has admin privileges is irrelevant here. If you can check if you're able to log into the actual 'Administrator' account that will tell us if it's just your profile that's messed up, or windows itself. :) Does the safe mode login screen look like this (cdn-write.demandstudios.com) picture? Obviously your username will be different but the same principle applies. No, it doesn't look like that. Earlier on when I tried logging on as a Guest, a message did flick up about my log in having an error or something, I'm now trying to get that to pop back up (with no luck). So it is quite likely that my log in is corrupted.

2009-11-04 03:57:00 | Tried safe mode, safe mode with networking, last known good config, debugging mode disable auto restart on sys. failure. Can I use any of the other options from this page?

2009-11-04 21:26:00 | Mentioned the forbidden fruit, and the trail went cold - whoops! I've been looking into my dilemma further and have found it's quite commonly associated to the free AVG download! The problem is: Userinit . Exe file is corrupted or deleted Which likely happened after the system restarted, following the avg install and virus detection . There's a range of solutions, and suggestions but I'm not sure where to start . Some of the computer jargon, I don't understand - sorry .

2009-11-04 21:30:00 | Here is one suggestion I found, what do you think? I also don't have the original installation cd . Nutty Proffessor, on Mar 26, 2009 5:43:48 pm GMT+5Q . My computer logoff automatically After I logon . Runs in a Logon-Logoff Loop . The reason why this happening is because the Userinit . Exe file is corrupted or deleted . Steps for Fix 1 . | 827056 | 2009-11-04 21:30:00 | Try this (www.cybertechhelp.com) if that fixes it, get rid of AVG, and install something else. You may have a prob then with no CD. Unless its got recovery cd's and they work. Other than that, connect it to something, copy whatever docs to somewhere else, then format it. Or connect it to something else, if they've got XP copy userint.exe to yours. Just make sure it goes to the right folder. Then dont install AVG again. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2009-11-04 22:30:00 | Hey Speedy, Thanks for your help, looks like I will have to engage local IT help I think. I don't have any recovery CDs etc, they are with my workplace IT team. The turnaround in getting it back from there could take weeks, so that for me is a kind of last option. How would I connect the laptop to another source to get at the data? Is there some sort of cable I can purchase to link it to another laptop? Is it fairly straight forward to do this? Cheers, :badpc:

2009-11-05 00:05:00 | Since it doesnt boot, you have to remove the hdd from it, and put the hdd in another (working system). The working system will have to have either an IDE or SATA connection on it (depending on what the hdd in the laptop is.: IDE or SATA) | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
