827499 2009-11-05 22:22:00 Have many of you used Autoruns by SysInternals ?
I am thinking of getting it, but would like to know if it is a good program and does it work well ?

regards

827500 2009-11-05 22:24:00 Have used it for several years, and it's brilliant - one of the absolute essential apps in your toolbox.

There are other tools that do similar things, but not as concisely as Autoruns. Had a laptop I fixed the other night that had 23 apps set to run on startup. I disabled 21 of them!!

Actually, pretty much everything Sysinternals do is fantastic - their process explorer tool is really nice as well.

Probably one of the best programs I have ever used.

827502 2009-11-05 22:37:00 Yeah it's great, goes so in-depth but is still easy to use. wratterus (105)
827503 2009-11-05 22:43:00 Still excellent even tho' Sysinternals has been 'assimilated'. :yuck: fred_fish (15241)

827505 2009-11-06 00:01:00 What's great about most if not all of the sysinternals programs is they require no installation. Just keep them on a USB flash drive and they are easily available to most PCs you need to work on. AvonBill (11358)

Even though I'm very much at beginner level when it comes to PC troubleshooting, I really enjoyed watching the "Case of the Unexplained" videos by Mark Russinovich (technet.microsoft.com).

I find it's best to download the videos first. My bandwidth is not enough for the streaming version!

cheers
