827293 2009-11-05 05:01:00 Just a quick (and probably obvious question) regarding Telecoms Big Time plan:

Is normal web browsing and VPN (mainly remote desktop) speed managed (if so, is it by much)?

I've read the stuff on the Telecom website about P2P applications, but it doesn't really say anything about other forms of internet traffic.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

827294 2009-11-05 05:07:00 They say it's not managed. During the day it's fine, in the evenings it can slow down. wratterus (105)
827295 2009-11-05 05:36:00 It's a fair bit faster than Go Large and the upload speed is no longer at a mere 14kb/s, but at $10 higher it better be. qazwsxokmijn (102)

827297 2009-11-05 07:35:00 I just changed to big time, my browsing speed is awesome. Similar to when I was on 20GB plan.

I am downloading torrents atm and the fastest two are at 35sh KBps.

But I am also downloading something from rapidshare and am getting a grand 17.1KBps max lol.

827298 2009-11-05 18:17:00 They say that VPN & SSL is managed, I know that SSL is but haven't tested high-speed throughput with VPN (PPTP GRE traffic) as I mostly only use it for gaming, and it's fine for what I do (<15KB/sec). As far as I can tell RDP is *not* slowed ... Chilling_Silence (9)
827299 2009-11-05 22:09:00 Can't comment on VPN or RDP but everything else (apart from rapidshare) goes as fast as my connection speed can handle (most of the time) Agent_24 (57)
827300 2009-11-06 03:59:00 Thanks guys, for file sharing sites is it just Rapidshare thats slowed down or are others such as mediafire and zShare slowed down as well? davidmmac (4619)
827301 2009-11-06 09:08:00 Ive found Rapidshare has been bad as a whole the last few months, even prior to Big Time .. Chilling_Silence (9)
827302 2009-11-07 10:23:00 To be honest I hadn't used Rapidshare for quite some time, then I noticed people were complaining about it being bad on Big Time, I tried it, found it was completely **** (20KB/s to start and dropping from there)

Other people report that it's capped at 180KB/s

Maybe you only get that with premium and a download manager with multiple connections?
