| 711118 | 2008-10-09 19:24:00 | Now we are being told we can't decide how much hot water we're using in our showers! www.nzherald.co.nz With much bigger environmental (not to mention political and economic) issues going on, why the government feels the need to tell us how we shower baffles me. |

| 711120 | 2008-10-09 19:34:00 | That is so silly it's unbelievable. Instead of doing that, they could avoid building a new power station for the mean time and make a law saying every new house has to have solar panels for heating water, then subsidize 3/4 of the cost. Lots of hot water for everyone, large power savings. Unless, of course, you live in Milford. |

Its all in the name of sustainability you know. :illogical Dont worry, the loonies are firmly in control of this asylum. :D And you can leave wratterus, youre talking far too much sense, on your bike! :D |

You don't get any cleaner, and it does use a lot, lot more water. We should save water, NZ may not have a big problem yet but wait for it. All they are saying is if people won't save water they will ensure its save by a building code which means you will use a low pressure shower. Big deal. Most houses use low pressure now anyway, so it won't affect them. |

| 711123 | 2008-10-09 20:32:00 | War of words over water proposal (www.nzherald.co.nz). But Building and Construction Minister Shane Jones says Dr Smith was misrepresenting a proposed design standard for new homes. "The plain and simple fact is that there are no restrictions on the amount of hot water anyone can use," Mr Jones said. "There are no restrictions on the flow rate of your showerhead. There are no restrictions to the number of showers you can take or, the showerhead you use." Did someone say it was election year? |

I measured our LP shower yesterday, 5 litres per minute. I did change the shower head to a design suited to low flow but the amount of water is fine. Anyone dirty enough to need more wouldn't be let in the door :) Instead of bleating about nanny state why not vent at Rheem suggesting that the price of cylinders would have to go up by $500 to be solar compatible. |

There are no restrictions to the number of showers you can take or, the showerhead you use."  Oh really, seems hardly worth bringing in the law then. :D Maybe someone out there can explain this statement? But heeey I guess it would be an excuse to employ "500 Hot Water Policeman" to to catch those who offend. They might even get in the shower with you.  |

Anyway, we arent living in Australia, we have no water shortages in Napier that I know of.....Its not the amount we are using, its the amount the government and business waste. |

| 711127 | 2008-10-09 23:47:00 | Instead of coming down on water pressure, how about some sort of law making it harder to own Yank Tanks without a really good excuse? Unless you're Metla with a freaking huge digger on a trailer behind you, (or a boat, or something) I don't see the point of those Dodge Power Rams. They're taller than I am (6'2"), which just isn't right. Most of their owners seem to be compensating for being freaking tiny (I'll leave interpretation of that up to you guys). |
