709709 2008-10-04 03:02:00 Did you use E-Day?

Well I did, I piled up my work van and took like 10 computers and heaps of parts and monitors in.

I used my work van and they tried to tell me I that they weren't taking company e-waste. I said it wasn't! Just my collection of many old computers that my mates were always dropping off.
So I have finally rid my house and garage of that junk!

Good on them for having E-Day!!

709710 2008-10-04 03:08:00 No, but only because Lower Hutt council held a similar event about 6 weeks ago - I got rid of all my junk PC gear then. Erayd (23)
709711 2008-10-04 03:24:00 Sure did - got rid of a few non-working PCs, a few old cases with motherboards and 2 15" CRTs. We now have much more space in the garage :D jwil1 (65)
709712 2008-10-04 03:24:00 Nope. I was working at Eday.
Got me a few spare batteries for my phone. Missed out on four or so excellent working condition mobiles.

709713 2008-10-04 04:18:00 Yes. Just got back from Nelson depot. Offloaded three old machines, a 15" screen and a couple of keyboards, all of which I had previously retained for visiting grandchildren to play on. The shelves look bare, holding only the three hard drives I removed - a 4.3 Gb Seagate, an 8.4 Gb Seagate, a Fujitsu which I think is 30 Gb.
Streams of cars at the depot and dozens of volunteers unloading and stacking the equipment.

709714 2008-10-04 04:36:00 No, didn't use it this year, but I think it's a great idea and props to everyone involved :clap bachelorno1 (6556)
709715 2008-10-04 05:28:00 Yes but only had one 17" crt to dispose of everything else still in use at the moment, Nelson one was busy at 8.30 this morning. I think it is a great idea pity there isn't somewhere you can recycle parts all year though gary67 (56)
709716 2008-10-04 06:40:00 Nope, nothing to throw away. beeswax34 (63)
709717 2008-10-04 07:58:00 My wife and I went to drop off our remnants (including an old UPS that weighed a fair bit - would have hated to pay per kg at the tip for that) and was in a queue for 50 minutes! There were cars lined up down two streets and when we entered the coolstore carpark where they were doing the collection the line was 5 wide and at least 30 deep.

My wife mentioned that the fumes and carbon emissions from 1000 or more cars idling for an hour would probably add up to a not so "e" day!

709718 2008-10-04 08:37:00 I did.
Managed to get rid of a few dead PCs, a couple of old monitors that actually still worked and an old Compaq server that weighed a frigin' ton!
Also got rid of half a dozen dead routers and mainboards plus about 10 dead PSUs.
