2009-11-09 08:50:00 | Hi all, I signed up with 20GB Lightspeed plan and was connected last Saturday. It is really slow! I took about 6 measurements with speedtest.net over 2 days and the average is 0.28 Mbps download, 0.22 Mbps upload and ping 170ms. That is slower than dial-up. I sent an e-mail to Telstra earlier today and had trouble uploading a 1 kb csv attachment from speednet. Anybody aware if there are trouble with Telstra lately? I live in Wellington, Johnsonville suburb. Cheers!

2009-11-09 09:54:00 | Ring them and talk to them about it - there is probably something wrong (i.e. wiring not done right, faulty modem) as it shouldn't be anywhere near that slow. | somebody (208) | |
2009-11-09 10:10:00 | Don't know if this is relevant or not, but I am with Telstra Clear/Paradise on cable broadband, and for the last couple of days I have been noticing very long connection times and slow data downloads. This seems to be affecting off-shore sites and I have assumed it is an external problem, not with the ISP. | Jayess64 (8703) | |

That is slower than dial-up.That is extremely unusual - sounds like there is something wrong with your particular connection. If you haven't already, give them a call. Note that they will probably want to send a tech out to your premises to take a look. I haven't noticed anything like this at all (I'm on 10m down, 2m up, located in Wellington.) |

2009-11-09 17:59:00 | I'm in J'ville, not noticed any problems. If you're using OpenDNS, ditch it :2cents: edit: You're not connecting over wireless, are you?

2009-11-09 19:32:00 | 0.28 Mbps download, 0.22 Mbps upload That is slower than dial-up. Where do you get 280kbps down and 220kbps up dialup? :P One a more helpful note, I would call instead of email, I have had much better response times contacting them by phone than email.

2009-11-09 21:04:00 | Sounds like a fault, BTW speedtest.net is a hunk of junk, worthless for speed testing as its only single source, but it looks pretty.
