Metla is just following the two golden rules

2 . one you turn down is one you will never get back

They pay tax at about 50%... we don't even compare.

Most of them do it absolutely freely though. I'm fairly sure they've voted down tax cuts before.

710722 2008-10-10 16:24:00 I always thought average was total divided by how many, and median was the middle between top and bottom

I am also no mathematician, (i got 14 for SC maths) but what I want is the term for the wage that most people are on.

(I had never heard of that term "means")

The modal value or mode, as in "à la mode", the most commonly occurring value .

I think the question is,what is the mode, not, is it a mode.

Aye, that's the rub.... trying to find an answer to the simple question... What is the modal value of all wages and salaries in New Zealand ?

As Mr. Middleton the radio gardener used to say, 'the answer lies in the soil'. So it may be possible to dig deeply into these websites and find an answer

www.stats.govt.nz

www.treasury.govt.nz

www.treasury.govt.nz

But even then, those at the top of the heap are skilled in hiding their incomes via trusts, scams, tax avoidance/evasion schemes, offshore laundering and so on. So we would never get a truly representative distribution curve properly skewed or weighted by the top earners.

What about In the Mood ( www.jazz-on-line.com) instead of à la mode ?

710726 2008-10-11 04:26:00 I hope you look at the Harvard site Terr.
I know the Proffs involved won't be quite up to 001 standard,or yours even, but worth a listen.
