711099 2008-10-10 00:15:00 It was meant as a joke Trev, your sarcasm detector needs a little tweaking. ;)

I'm well aware that there are probably CAA laws about all kinds of things, this included. For a fly over, I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue. It would just be a matter of 'can't be stuffed'. My comment was a dig at the CAA, not at you. :)

711101 2008-10-10 02:45:00 Wife went to the UK on an A380 a couple of weeks ago. Singapore Airlines on a 777 from Auckland and A380 Singapore - London.
She said there were 4 Airbridges connected to it at Singapore and London, and more leg room than our flights in the past.

She returns in about 3 weeks A380 and 777 on the return trip as well.

711102 2008-10-10 03:19:00 Great to hear about the legroom !! Having flown on a Cathay Pacific Airbus A340 in August I will not fly in that particular aircraft again - even if you pay my ticket :groan:

However I hear that the Airbus A380 is very quiet

711103 2008-10-10 04:42:00 Interesting... the computer told the pilots that there was wind shear during a landing and forced a go round for a second attempt. Not the pilots decision but the computer!! (TV1 news tonight)

Ardvaark yesterday, had a comment on this that is well worth reading.

Bit of the "one pilot and the dog" syndrome. The pilot to see that nothing goes wrong - the dog to bite him if he tries to touch anything.

Wonderful. A Fracking Friday when we're all working and don't get to see it!! Guess it was for the benifit of the unemployed and retired people. Saturday would have been better.. Will have to wqit until February when Emerates starts to use them on a regular basis. Qantas surely is not. This was a one off to beat anyone else to it..

Sounds like they are aptly name The Deathbus.

Exactly. I thought it was on Saturday so I slept in. I ended up giving it a miss, once I factored in the time it takes for the bus to get to the airport lookout point.

I wouldn't take too much into that article. Airbuses have been flying safely for many years with no more problems than any other aircraft.

Just the legroom on the A340 :yuck:

Best to check airline and legroom on both before you decide. There again, you can check all you like and the can legitimately switch planes at the last minute.

PS - for three of the fours legs to and from Europe our earphones did not work properly on Cathay Pacific. Some stations would not correct properly at all. Long flight when you cant hear or see the various opportunities ! LOng haul when you cant sleep and the blinds have been put down !!! Will always pay an extra fee which means that we will always fly daytime. Think Singapore Airlines the only one with day-time flights.
