709833 2008-10-08 00:47:00 Swmbo hit me with a shopping day last Friday, it was a genuine all day job with four suburbs and every damn frippery shop in two counties. After 8 1/2 hours of this excruciatingly cruel and unusual punishment she declared that it had been a beautiful day, a real pleasure. She had gained a pair of shoes and a scarf. Aside from the 473 I had to pass judgement on, I have never seen her with a scarf. It was fairly economical I must admit, less than $80 for the day including parking and lunch, but I feel sure that there was some hidden feature in the whole expedition that completely escapes me.

Strangely, I can't get her into a hardware shop with a team of dogs and a stockwhip.

Give this man a beer.....

709834 2008-10-08 00:51:00 Come on, enough of the stereotypes.
Some of us hate this kind of thing ourselves. I hate shoes. I hate clothes shopping, its a necessary evil best done as fast as possible, or preferably online, as rarely as possible.

On the other hand I can happily enter a Mitre 10 or similar. Although we tend to go in different directions - he's looking at screws and bolts and I'm looking at larger items like log splitters (really love the neighbours one, I want one) and drills.

Now, PC hardware shopping on the other hand..............:clap

PCTek, we know you are the exception, you work with PC's for christ sakes!, you even game.....do you know how rare that is?

It's all about the people you know.

If you did cross stitching, chances are all your friends wouldn't game or work in IT. :p

709838 2008-10-08 05:17:00 I wasn't complaining about SWMBO's expedition, but I am totally unable to see how she enjoys that sort of thing occasionally. She is a sane intelligent person (except for dubious tastes in dudes) but the whole day was a great delight for her. The expedition was scheduled for a week earlier, but I had a stroke of luck and was blessed with dysentery for two days. Alas, the sentence was still carried out. I guess she can have the total enjoyment for the pair of us in these deals, it would be selfish of me to take any delight in her shopping trips for myself. ;)
Her English is not always the greatest, but she is very fluent at shopping. My big worry is when asked to venture opinions in a complex process that is a complete mystery to me. There is no list of rules for such a convoluted game on Google.

No, its about stereotypes.
One of the IT girls does cros-stitch too.

I know some guys who aren't into gaming at all, and work in IT.
I some guys who couldn't care less about computers at all too.
