| 710428 | 2008-10-09 00:14:00 | So what's new? Years ago, NASA were buying "Milspec" integrated circuits from US manufacturers from the US fabrication plants. Some of these expensive (100% tested for extreme enviroment and electrical stresses) units were faulty. When NASA asked to see the test records, they "couldn't be found". I think the fact that the records didn't exist (because the tests hadn't been done) was glossed over, but there were some hefty penalty payments. |
