710020 2008-10-06 06:00:00 Greetings all

How much do you guys pay for Firewood, I am currently paying about $80 a metre and that seems a tad high to me, we have only recently (last 12 months) got a multifuel fire, prior to that we had a god-awful Juno which was a hopper fed coal fire that belched smoke through the living room when the wind blew the wrong way and would ocasionaly let rip with an almighty bang when gas built up in side.

I realise the price is higher over winter, but what does it normally drop down to?

710021 2008-10-06 06:03:00 You mean a quart? Metla (12)
710022 2008-10-06 06:09:00 He means per meter cubed. pine-o-cleen (2955)
710023 2008-10-06 06:18:00 Depends on what kind of wood you're talking about firstly - split Pine here in Dunedin goes for around $55 m3 while Manuka and Larch can be around $90 - $100 m3.

I find an Oregon/Pine mix is the best for logburners - Pine on it's own burns out too quickly, but is good to get things going.

ah, and there I was thinking Firewood is measured and sold in quarts.

80 bucks for a quart is about right depending on type, size and dryness of the wood.

firewood is no longer allowed to be sold by the cord.
after looking at your wiki link you will see why it can't be sold as a cord.
