| 709606 | 2008-10-03 21:30:00 | I've got a friend who has recently become involved with this group and I'm a bit worried. I checked out their website (http://www.resultsfoundation.com/) and found they are based in Singapore and their membership fees are horrendous - US$150 per MONTH for 36 months (three year standard term, not transferable or able to be cancelled by the look of it). She is intelligent and has a good job, but I am worried she is being taken for a ride here. They offer all sorts of training and seminars and raise money for charity but until she told me about them yesterday, I had never heard of them. They may be perfectly legit, but she is now involved with one of the people who run it and I am worried about her. She is very trusting and is about to shell out her own money to fly overseas to meet up with this person. Has anyone had any dealings with them in NZ and can set my mind at ease? I don't want to see her get hurt and in my opinion it looks a bit dodgy. |

| 709609 | 2008-10-04 22:23:00 | I expressed my concerns to her and she said she got involved two and a half years ago and 'only' paid $1000, which she has recouped five times over "in training and the people/network I have created and the satisfaction I got from doing the charity work that I have been able to do. I believe I have go more out of XL than they have got out of me". I don't believe a word of it because when she visited me last Friday it was the first time she had ever mentioned them and she has never talked of doing any charity work in the past. Every second sentence started with "[the guy's name] said this" and I think she has blinkers on when it comes to XL. He is apparently married and I can certainly see the situation not ending well, but I really don't think she's in a position to listen as yet. I agree with you - I got worried when I checked out their membership pages and each page showed an image with gobbledy-gook about what you got from it (I looked at about five pages before realising it was an endless slideshow of nothing). I'll do a bit more digging but unfortunately I think all I can do if she won't listen is sit back and wait for it all to turn to custard and be there for her. As another friend said "eek, it looks like a gym membership only worse!" And as my husband rightly pointed out, if she wants to become involved in charity work, there is a lot she can do in NZ without paying money to some overseas crowd. Hell, I bet if she knocked on the door of any of the charities in areas she is interested in, they would all welcome her with open arms. |

| 709611 | 2008-10-05 04:08:00 | You can't help her. She's been converted. Say goodbye. As my other friend said "sounds like a cult to me - tell her not to drink the orange juice!" Who's the patron saint of lost causes? Oh, that's right, Saint Jude! (How appropriate, that's the name of the poor woman who married my brother!) |
