827991	2009-11-07 19:03:00	Greetings all, So unfortunately there's a bit of an issue with my WDTV Live and streaming the video from Win7 (Well, lucky for me because I can now play with NAS). It's a known bug and the Western Digital people are apparently fixing it in a later release. Anyway I currently have a 1.5TB SATA drive that I'd like to put into an external enclosure so I can attach it to my Alix.6b2 running FreeNAS, but the problem is when I look at the tech specs on the manufacturer website for something such as this: pbtech.co.nz It states 1TB max... I've had a couple of these: pbtech.co.nz But the fan on all of them has broken, gone incredibly noisy, and I've ended up disconnecting it :p So I guess Im keen for any recommendations for an enclosure, that'll take a 1.5TB SATA drive, is hopefully reliable and semi-quiet, but most of all will keep the drive cool. I've melted a few drives in my day and would rather this one wasn't a part of the list ;) Thoughts / Comments / Recommendations appreciated Thanks Chill.	Chilling_Silence (9)

827993	2009-11-07 21:36:00	Vantec ones are OK, fanless and reasonably cool. Cheapest (in terms of price) that I've come across with USB and eSata. Be aware that the power adaptors on them aren't exceptional quality. I bought three of these (ascent.co.nz) at once and two of their power adaptors died within days of each other (about 7-8 months later). Interestingly, the one that didn't die was (and still is) permanently in use - so it may be that turning it off at the wall nightly is what's killing them. I put a 1.5TB drive into one of them (and Ascent said it was 1TB max as well) and it worked without a hitch. I told them to update their site :D :2cents:	jwil1 (65)
