711547 2008-10-11 09:54:00 Hey guys,
I've been having a sh*tload of problems trying to track down a laboratory chemical supplier(stuff like magnesium ribbon, hydrochloric acid etc)that will sell to a member of the public. I am highly discouraged from buying off the internet A. because 3/4 of the companies are in America or some foreign country, and B. because the shipping will cost about a minimum of three times the price of the original item. Trademe is an overall b*tch to buy off because you cant locate the items(they are listed in a billion different directories). These are for practical chemistry experiments that I have a personal fascination about.

P.S. I noticed there was a thread about a member trying to obtain aluminium dust for a thermite experiment. If he knows how to make it he will probably know the risks. Do not post on the thread trying to warn me about these chemicals, I know what I'm getting into and do not need some bunch of idiots whining to me.:annoyed: Please, answer the question or dont Post. Thank-you.

711549 2008-10-11 19:22:00 Many of these chemicals are controlled for a reason - if not by law, then by industry best-practice. You can get HCL in most paint shops, though it goes by a different name.

In the case of the thermite guy, he didn't properly understand the risks. If you know the risks, and know what you're doing, then you shouldn't need to post here to ask for advice on where to buy this sort of stuff - either you'd already have access to it, or you'd know where to get access to it legitimately.

711550 2008-10-11 19:54:00 Besides, This is not the forum for obtaining restricted goods, Go through the proper channels. If you can't get it then so be it, its not for you. Metla (12)
711551 2008-10-11 22:52:00 Lol, no, its very easy to find out the risks, obtaining the chemicals is another problem altogether. Heh, if you're still too stupid to believe that just google it man.
Let me make this clear;
DONT POST UNLESS YOU CAN ANSWER THE QUESTION.:angry

Don't ask a question if you don't want people to post.

If no one posts you won't find out why no one can or will help, if they are not available it will be for a good reason same reason why you can't go out and buy a tank or an Apache helicopter :( :( :(

Thank-you.Gosh, starting off your first post by calling the members of the forum a bunch of idiots is not going to win friends and influence people.

Needless to say, there are obvious reasons such chemicals are restricted.

You are not going to find your answer here, so I'm closing this thread.
