711474 2008-10-11 05:21:00 Does anyone know if you can play games for windows on ungenuine windows?
in other words: does it check if ur computer is genuine?
pcuser7895 (12979)
711475 2008-10-11 05:22:00 No, games dont check if Windows is genuine

But depending on what the game is, if it uses a cd key and its an online game, the server may check the key. When you play online.

711476 2008-10-11 05:36:00 wat if it only had a cd key? pcuser7895 (12979)
711477 2008-10-11 05:39:00 Well, like I said it'll probably check the server (if u play online), to see thats its (the game) is legit (not a pirated key).

If it is legit, you have nothing to worry about

Are you talking about the windows cd key or the cd key for whatever game?

If youre talking about the windows cd key, then no, whatever game wouldnt care what the key is.

But you probably wouldnt be able to get updates from the MS site, until you change it

711478 2008-10-11 05:56:00 ok, the game wouldn't care about if the OS is genuine.
if thats right my question is answered

Microsoft would say it is a genuine disadvantage.
