829529 2009-11-12 05:22:00 Just got the blue screen of death...
Have since lost all sound, no sound hardware is detected.

I had very distorted corrupt sound for a few seconds each day on DOD, it was usually fixed by quiting the game, but however today it happened while playing an MP3, I got a blue screen and it died.

829530 2009-11-12 05:28:00 Any driver updates etc been installed ??

you can try system restore back a day or so and see if that makes any difference.

Click start, type in restore , select System Restore - when it opens, select a restore point to when it was OK , or tick the box bottom left corner to show older points - follow instructions through.

No new drivers or anything for that matter installed recently.

( Installed a 1.5tb WD hd today, but the sound corruption has been present since before. So I can't connect them.)

The sound card has been detected on this reboot, but the sound was very distorted and corrupt.

Could this be an overheating issue?

829532 2009-11-12 05:41:00 Did you install the drivers from the ASUS site or use windowsupdate? ASUS drivers (lately) have been crap. I installed them on this, but the sound was too low, I couldnt hear it. I used the drivers Win7 installed instead. If you installed the ASUS drivers, uninstall them or roll the drivers back Speedy Gonzales (78)

Windows Update, I have had it for a while.

BSOD again.

I've removed the WD drive, see how it goes now.

Again it did not detect the sound card.

829534 2009-11-12 05:55:00 Try the drivers from the realtek site (www.realtek.com.tw). Speedy Gonzales (78)
829535 2009-11-12 06:54:00 No avail, the sound card is not detected at all. Cato (6936)
829536 2009-11-12 06:54:00 Well its either disabled itself or its dead as a dodo Speedy Gonzales (78)

Mobo on the way out you think?

Or shall I just go and grab me a soundblaster tomorrow?

829538 2009-11-12 07:16:00 See if its still enabled in the BIOS. If it is, it sounds like its dead. Does it show at all in device manager? Speedy Gonzales (78)
