712114 2008-10-15 03:28:00 If I were Bill I'd listen to those complaints and make a better product. Actually, If I were Bill I'd dedicate life to spending money, Buggered if I'd carer about anything if I was the worlds richest man.

If I were Bill, I'd realise that I had approximately 400 times too much money for anybody to ever consider spending, and give half of it away to worthy cases. I think I'd call it the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (www.gatesfoundation.org) or something.

Then I'd get all my loaded mates to join in and top it up a bit.

Or something like that.

Given that he's not really even working at MS.

However, if I were Steve Ballmer, I'd step down and hand it over to someone more like Bill, who actually knows wtf software design is, and not just someone with an MBA.

712115 2008-10-15 04:16:00 And that in fact is what he is doing.

Erayd........

In proportion to what?
I'm saying if you look at vista as a fraction of sales/installs/upgrades/new etc, rather than as an absolute figure, it's done terribly compared to XP.

712116 2008-10-15 04:43:00 Cic,
The point is that no matter how bad your product, if your marketing is magnificent the world will fall at your feet, when logic would seem to indicate they should fly at your throat.
Works for MS and Apple. ;)

Also, there were not too many people buying XP, and immediately ripping it out to replace it with ME. Seems to happen a lot to Vista being tossed away in favour of XP. A brilliant marketing move - two OS sales for each new PC. :banana

712118 2008-10-15 05:38:00 Vista on my laptop isn't too bad now I have resurrected it with a clean install after the HP install collapsed under its own filth. Metla (12)
712119 2008-10-15 09:18:00 Why doesn't Microsoft, as a refreshing change actually do a proper re-write of Windows Bloatware, and actually test it properly, iron out all the bugs and sort out security properly before releasing it to the market.
What if an electrical or automotive manufacturer released a product on the market with the level of faults consumers suffer with windows products, they would go broke, and have the pants sued off them.

712120 2008-10-15 18:40:00 Windows 7 is a good name.

Although, the name will mean nothing if it's crap....

I still don't think I'll see any point in getting that either though... XP is still good enough (and much faster)
