I've replaced it now with one that seems to be a fair bit slower (grrr) but a lot quieter (yay!). Where my old drive copied in iTunes at about 9-10x (With error correction and at high bitrates) the new one is more often around 3-4x. At least it sounds nicer, I guess. And hopefully my CD's can sleep peacefully, knowing that there's not a psychotic spindle on the prowl. |
