| 712504 | 2008-10-16 20:52:00 | Windows XP is actually Windows version 5.1, so it's not a major release (even though it was). jwil1 seems to be correct, although NT started at v3.11. Nope. They need to be consistent. If it was released on a CD for sale as a standalone O/S then its an actual version, none of this 5.1 stuff. Windows 3.1 Windows 95 Windows 98 Windows ME Windows NT Windows 2000 WIndows XP Windows Vista Windows whatever Number it really is. |

No - you're not right :D Windows 7 refers to the 7th version of Windows NT (as said before). The Windows NT line started with version 3.1 (to be in line with Windows 3.1) 3 = Windows NT 3.xx (www.imagef1.net.nz) 4 = Windows NT 4.0 (www.imagef1.net.nz) 5 = Windows 2000 (www.imagef1.net.nz) 5.1 = Windows XP (www.imagef1.net.nz) 6 = Windows Vista (www.imagef1.net.nz) 7 = Windows 7 Just thought you ought to know :) |
