I certainly have no issues with someone on a pension when they have worked all their life, I have no issues with real SB's, I do have issues with the Unemployed and ACC . . . . I would expect however someone in their twilight years to have no home loans or owing large sums of money, with a nest egg prepared, as that is what is expected of us . . . . . Never mind my brother . I think a lot of people have no idea who are the deserving and who are the bludgers, its just an automatic reaction when benefits are mentioned . Look at the reaction LWL got! You don't know her circumstances at all . Now you might expect an elderly person to have a nice paid for home but why? You have no idea what things may have occurred in their lives . How about illness or serious accidents? ACC only pays you so long you know, and for illnesses they don't pay at all . I know someone who a couple of years ago was on high pay as a programmer, got married, did the big wedding and honeymoon, bought the little house with picket fence, had child and then it all went to crap . If I had told that person what their circumstances are now they would have laughed . You can only guarantee 2 things in life - death and taxes . And I can tell you one thing . No-one hires an elderly person . Thats anyone over the age of 50 . Not unless they have some in-demand skill anyway, the ordinary jobs go to the younger ones . |

I didnt know is was a widow, and in many ways you are right about employers going for younger people, though for the life of me, i dont know why, I would rather have a mature workers than a young scatterbrain anyday. I can tell you, that while ACC wont pay for illness they seemingly pay forever to some. I know of 3 people who have been on ACC for over 15 yrs. All 3 in my opinion are milking it....... |
