Same would have applied if a Holden had won.

It's still just a win in a two-make series. Doesn't mean a damn thing. Was the same when John Britten's bikes did well - it was in a very limited and minor class - just like Bathurst...

It's a long time since Ford won at Le Mans - now that is a serious endurance race and would be something for Holden or Ford fanboys to gloat about - but Bathurst...?

711730 2008-10-13 04:12:00 So, no love for the greatest race in the Southern hemisphere because its not Lemans?

Cry me a river. Lemans is a crap watch, and about as relevant as use by date on cheese.

Bathurst never fails to deliver, Legendary race, and at the end of the day the brand name on the car is near insignificant. Just adds a little more colour for the fans.

At least more than two manufacturers are competing at Le Mans.

And what is "relevant" about Bathurst?

Bathurst never fails to deliver

Deliver what, exactly?

If you need to ask you'll never get it.

Enjoyment. I know I know, You can't fathom what the hell that is and you have my pity.

Can't say I care how many manufacturers are at Le mans, Nor if you can see any relevancy in 2 kids racing around the back lawn on push-bikes or a full field of Aussie V8s going hell bent around Bathurst for 6 hours solid.

I bet 10 dollars no one cares that you don't care......

I enjoy some motor racing Metla - I know, I know, you can't keep the sarcasm out of your posts if somebody expresses an opinion different to your own but that's part of your character I guess and it's what you enjoy posting . . .

And that opinion probably matters as much as mine .

Hang on a minute, John Britten was not in a ''minor class''. His factory backing was his own company. He made & designed the frames / motors himself. Went amazingly well at Daytona. Have a read of his past history. Not bad for a dyslexic kid.! :)

True, except I didn't log onto a French forum, find a thread on lemans and then post for no other reason then to bag their greatest and most legendary motor racing event. if I had I would have received the internet equilivant of a hell-beating....and rightly so.

But hey, feel superior about not enjoying a classic event because it doesn't fit your elitist quota on minimum number of manufacturers.Your loss.

711738 2008-10-13 17:08:00 I am not all that enamoured with only having Ford and Holden in the race but I have to agree that it is a hell of a spectacle and I have always sat and watched it for many years. This year, it was as good as it can get!

Le Mans had its glory in the open sports car racing days when the great drivers of the day competed. Mille Miglia was the same. There is just not the same feeling about it these days.

As for Formula 1, it has turned into a no watch thing for me. I love the MotoGP racing You see the riders and their antics to get the utmost from their bikes. Stunning to watch. I saw a program on the Doco channel where a bloke said that the difference between F1 Bikes and F1 cars is that in cars - it is 80% car, 20% driver. The bikes are 20% bike, 80% rider. I believe this. Proved by Rossi with his wins on a Yamaha.

Enjoy your sport. One type is not better than another as it is all in the eye of the beholder.
