713494 2008-10-21 01:17:00 Anyone know which Insurance companies insure drivers under 21 for most vehicle types?

Looking for one that will insure a 15 yr old female on Learners license to drive a 2 Litre Honda Accord in Auckland.

Our current Insurance Company will only insure her to 1500 cc until she gets full license.

713495 2008-10-21 01:19:00 That's harsh, I didn't have any issues when I was that age, was with Ansvar. Had a massive excess, but that's the same anywhere.

State are normally pretty good, otherwise NAC (www.nac.co.nz) if no one else will.

713496 2008-10-21 01:36:00 State - I have a 16 yr old granddaughter covered on my insurance for a 2.7 diesel. But we're in the South Island and never, ever, ever drive in AK. Scouse (83)

713498 2008-10-21 18:14:00 AMI insured me for a Honda Accord at age 16, though I had a full license at the time. Their policy is officially not to insure drivers under 21 for cars over 2L, but they were happy to make an exception.

So give them a call, and when they say no, ask if they can make an exception or to speak to the adjuster/manager or whatever. 1500cc is a ridiculous minimum.

713499 2008-10-21 19:34:00 I'm sure that you can call TOWER insurance coz they insure learner drivers. you will have to look up their phone number in the Yellow pages. alopes (5331)
713500 2008-10-22 07:06:00 1500cc is a ridiculous minimum.

Why most 15 year olds are not mature enough to be let loose on the road on anything over 50cc and even then there are exceptions to that

713501 2008-10-22 08:29:00 My son (16) used NAC I think they are based in Whangarei. He could only get 3rd party no fire or theft. gradebdan (2186)
713502 2008-10-22 17:30:00 Thank you all.

AMI will insure, will also try one more today.

Annual premium not a lot more than I was paying which surprised me and the Excess was $1000 which is not so bad I guess.

I have been with AA insurance for many years so it was a bit annoying when they would not cover my daughter on this car.
