829804 2009-11-13 03:34:00 Hi there,

I have had a Linksys WAG160n from Dick Smith for the last two or three months running my ADSL2+ connection along with Draft N wifi. I don't want this model any more for a number of reasons (see below if you care :D).

What replacement should I buy from Dick Smith (I will have around $300 store credit when I trade this one in). I need ADSL2+ and Wireless N (not dual band because the USB adapters are only single band).

Can someone please recommend which one to buy - what you have, what you know will be reliable etc.

Cheers,
Justinsg

Why I dont want this modem:
About a month ago it malfunctioned and cut all speeds to 1.3megabit on wifi and ethernet. So I went and easily got a brand new one from dick smith the other day - the ADSL modem speed is back to 15megabit but the router's firmware is completely outdated (i.e. linksys has not made any fixes for some major problems. To cut the story short- the computers cannot even ping each other but the can see the router and get speedy internet. More details at these sites:

829805 2009-11-13 06:19:00 You could always go for an AM300 in Halfbridge to a WRT54GL running Tomato... DSE also do a price-match so find the lowest price on pricespy.co.nz that has a Retail store (Not Online-only) and they have to match it.

Why do you *need* N-wireless? Why not just stick with G-Wifi and boost the power output (A nice feature in the Tomato Firmware) and potentially antenna size?
