829659	2009-11-12 23:43:00	Hi all. My Win Vista Home Premium is very very slow. SWMBO complained about this morning. said it had been like it for a week Firefox takes 1 1/2 minutes to start. Windows update seems frozen on 70% complete. Had problems earlier with the windows update window freezing. System starts quickly but is slow to shut down. 829662	2009-11-13 00:41:00	Thanks Speedy. Any ideas on why it its not downloading Updates. Tried to do it through IE but all it did was launch the updater which promptly froze on me. Firefox still taking 1 1/2 minutes to start.(Updated firefox to latest version). Other programs seem to start normally	Colpol (444)
829663	2009-11-13 00:47:00	Look in event viewer, to see what it says (when it freezes). I would kill indexing as well. It can slow thing down (right mouse on c / properties, untick the bottom option). Just click on ignore all, and let it continue. Could be an addon in FF, if its taking a while to load. 829665	2009-11-13 02:45:00	OK Checked add ins in FF Found and disabled "Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant" Now normal speed start up. Killed Indexing Rebooted after ticking/Cleaning in HJT Checked event viewer. Nothing seen. Updated FF. Did that before anything else. Used CC cleaner after update. Also temporarily turned off the Auto update. Without it trying to update memory usage now dropped to normal. (I hadn't noticed that it was higher than normal) OK How do I clear the Update Cache?? You could remove a lot of the unnecessary items from startup too and disable a whole heap more bloated resource hogging nosey services as well. Black Vipers website gives you a list.	pctek (84)
