| 713018 | 2008-10-18 07:22:00 | In recent years I have had both bathroom and kitchen replaced in my house. Both done by the appropriate professionals. There appeared to be no problems with permits here so long as the job was basically just replacing existing fixtures without structural alterations to the house. I would go with the consult your builder not the council advise you have been already given. Your local builder will know your councils regulations and advise if permits are required. |

I can remember years ago being advised by a builder that anything you did within the eaves line of the house was your own business and to forget the council permits. That was long before buyers became more careful, getting LIM and various council reports before parting with money. Nowadays I would certainly check out the need for permits and approvals before altering wiring, plumbing, building decks more than about a metre high and, as someone previously said, modifying bearer walls. Could make the difference between a sale and a rejection at some later date. Have a look here for any LIM type mention from your council.... www.wanganui.govt.nz | Scouse (83) | ||
