2009-11-15 04:50:00 Both computers are in the workgroup MSHOME, How do i get them to see each other? smurf (6545)
2009-11-15 06:17:00 The easy way:- Download "Cisco Network Magic" and install it on one of your machines. You get a free trial period. It will make any adjustments to your network that are needed. Uninstall it when the trial is up. Your network will remain as it now is. CliveM (6007)
2009-11-15 06:20:00 Perhaps this will help (you'll need MS Word or Word viewer to read it)

2009-11-15 07:19:00 Thank you guys. I will try the options suggested thans for your help:) smurf (6545)
2009-11-15 22:46:00 Ok....I am having problems: I downloaded Cisco Network Magic as suggested by Clive M. The first thing that went wrong was that Network Magic required it to be loaded onto both computers instead of the one suggested by Clive :) That in itself wasn't the problem: what was was Avast was blocking each computer from sending files or in my particular case of being able to recognise the external hard drive on the "other" computer even though it was shown on the host computer as being available to share.
How can I configure Avast to allow this to happen???
smurf (6545)
2009-11-15 23:35:00 Avast doesnt block anything. Its not a firewall. Its something you havent configured properly Speedy Gonzales (78)
2009-11-15 23:43:00 My apologies: You are right Speedy. I referred to Avast incorrectly. It was denied by Sunbelt Personal Firewall. smurf (6545)
2009-11-15 23:45:00 Go into its options, there may a network option in it, that you may have to configure Speedy Gonzales (78)
