829914 2009-11-14 00:49:00 OP: Windows XP SP3
Laptop
Issue: Explorer fails if I right click any file, exe program, anything like that
Time it Started: Just today when I was moving files across to one of my flashdrvives and then deleting the original.
Antivirus: Norton 2010?

(You would expect it to happen when your transfering files over to a new computer wouldnt you.)

829915 2009-11-14 01:05:00 What files did you copy then delete? Not windows files I hope, I would get rid of Nortons, its a POC Speedy Gonzales (78)
829916 2009-11-14 01:07:00 Try restarting windows. the_bogan (9949)
829917 2009-11-14 01:39:00 Bogan: Thats the frst thing I tried :crying

I just copied some pictures programs that im sure wouldnt cause any problemsand then deleted the original.

Im not sure if I may if deleted anything important though as I was going through deleting unimportant things (I hope) and I got a couple of 'deleting this willmake some programs not work properly'. Could this be the problem?

829918 2009-11-14 01:42:00 Yep, that'll stuff it up.

Don't suppose you have system restore enabled?

829919 2009-11-14 01:52:00 I would need a step by step guide of how to :( Pharaoh (15206)
829920 2009-11-14 02:00:00 Start menu
Control panel
System

Then choose the system restore tab.

829921 2009-11-14 02:21:00 Dont copy programs that have already been installed, then delete the original folder. Since whatever is still in the registry and you'll totally screw things up Speedy Gonzales (78)
829922 2009-11-14 02:39:00 System restore is on and monitoring, No problems there.

I admit this was a stupid thing to do.
Going to run file recover to see if that can fix things.

829923 2009-11-14 03:28:00 Use system restore to wind back the computer to a restore point dated before the problems started gary67 (56)
