2008-10-30 04:01:00 | This new mobile operator Black & White looks good to me. It is cheaper than Vodaphone (even though it is only a virtual network. I am tempted to go with them to to piss Vodaphone off for their high charges and high minded attitiude (paul). It is a shame that some of the revenue will still go to them tho.

It's not REAL competition, because they still have to pay the incumbent, so their margin comes off the difference between what they charge their customers and what their supplier charges them. Their prices don't look that hot to me - but at least they don't put 24 month handcuffs on you... You can get out within a month, if you want to. |

2008-10-30 08:33:00 | As a prepay customer not much for me. I don't use my phone much, maybe $50 per year if that at all. I send the occasional text when friends meet up that's about it, other time we just email. What I have seen, it might be somewhat cheaper but its really a signed up plan if for 30days.

2008-10-30 08:35:00 | I think with vodafone is if you bought a cellphone off overseas or trademe, it might not be a contract but you may pay more for that per month if its a business plan only .. I am a bit outdated since I have not been on a contract for some years. So if you own the phone already you could go into a voda contract and one month in get out. | Nomad (952) | |
2008-10-30 12:33:00 | How can it be cheaper they are only reselling Vodafone. So maybe you need to do your maths again and read the fine print. | mikebartnz (21) | |
2008-10-30 16:45:00 | They aren't cheaper.Take a closer look on their plans www.bw.co.nz They aren't cheaper.Take a closer look on their plans www.bw.co.nz The 120 + 600 plan is more expensive than the mega plan of vodafone www.vodafone.co.nz The 120 + 600 plan = 120 free minutes + 600 text Mega plan = 20 peak minutes + 200 off peak minutes + 2000 text The 250 + 600 = 250 minutes + 600 text $110 THe Txter 250 plan = 250 off peak minutes + 600 text If I were to call a country that is not the top 5 countries then they charge you $2 a minute while vodafone charges you $1.39 Data is $1 for 10MB on vodafone.Black + white charges you $11.25 for 1MB How is it cheaper?

2008-10-30 21:51:00 | The original announcement said something about B&W targetting prepay users... but I only see plans on the site  | Nermal (7077) | |
2008-10-31 00:29:00 | The original announcement said something about B&W targetting prepay users... but I only see plans on the site  Of course they are targeting prepay users. ;) Anyone with a plan isn't going to change, $500 early disconnection fee doesn't sound overly appealing.

2008-10-31 01:06:00 | Well, as a prepay user I'm not going to change either... because the whole point of being on prepay is that I'm not on a plan. | Nermal (7077) | |
2008-10-31 06:22:00 | If they target prepay customers - maybe those who are relatively high users but only want a 30 day contract than a 2 or 3yr one. Plus if they buy the phone in NZ new, BW provides a slight discount too for the handset yet the contract is just 30 days - not sure if they lock the network thou. | Nomad (952) | |
