715689 2008-10-29 04:32:00 Anyone got any idea what this (www.imagef1.net.nz) road sign means?

Saw it on the side of the road on one of those temporary tripod type things, just out in the middle of nowhere.

715690 2008-10-29 04:41:00 That's a detour. When the white circle is somewhere (eg another sign), go forward. Normally the arrow points left or right. In NZ, we have a white square, too.

I think. Normally it's part of a multiple-sign setup. Sometimes the first sign says something to the effect that designates a symbol as a detour (in this case a circle).

715691 2008-10-29 04:41:00 Follow the dots?

I've seen similar ones with squares used to mark a detour route.

715692 2008-10-29 05:07:00 I thought detour, but I was pretty sure it was supposed to be a square. pine-o-cleen (2955)
715693 2008-10-29 05:47:00 They can be circles or squares. stormdragon (6013)
715694 2008-10-29 06:01:00 It could be worse (news.bbc.co.uk), I would say that first one would take some beating Morgenmuffel (187)

The bulk of those appeared to be German - and just confirms my impression of their signage the last time I was there. Far too much information all at once!!!

Sorta goes against their reputation for efficiency - or does it?

At least you had the chance to read them, most UK signs would be in the middle of a bush or behind a tree.
