715628 2008-10-28 23:40:00 As the title says from the Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in the United States this week.

ZDNet Supplied (www.zdnet.com.au other_l3) Obviously there will be changes and doesn't really say much about " Whats under the Bonnet" But if anyone was hoping for a radical change in looks from Vista these pic's so far will disappoint.

715629 2008-10-28 23:45:00 They muffed it.

They shouldn't be hiding programs running in the background by removing them from the taskbar, That sort of thinking is half the problem with Windows.

They should be stopping all programs from running on start-up unless configured to do so by the user (rather then the program).

Pretty early for a fail but there ya go. Idiots. They shouldn't be allowed to design as OS, I could fix their entire OS line with one sheet of paper and a pen.

I don't care how it looks. I care how it runs and what its doing. VERY very true  But I know a lot of people complained that how it looks and functions were not in the same place as XP or where they are used to being. Take Office 07 - the ribbon - some hate it some like it.

Can you see the "fun" with the touch Screen - Kids with sticky greasy fingers moving things all over the place - the state of the screen ofter a while :D

715633 2008-10-29 01:28:00 Any day now MS will invent the light pen and the tape cassette interface then announce the universe is saved (for a fee and new hardware + software). R2x1 (4628)
715634 2008-10-29 04:18:00 All I care about is the looks and whether it can run Firefox or not. :p pcuser42 (130)
715635 2008-10-29 07:06:00 All I care about is the looks and whether it can run Firefox or not. :p I Was a bit disappointed that by default you couldn't change the task bar color in Vista, had quite a few people ask me how to do it, I see on windows 7 pictures its a different color to the standard black.

For some reason I like the royale blue theme they have for windows media centre - so now I got that on Vista after fliddling about - just for something different.
